TGSCOM Inc. Helps Tack 15 Years On Cop Shooter’s Prison Sentence
TGSCOM, Inc

On-line firearms dealer earns praise from Daytona Beach Shores law enforcement officials for supplying “integral information” for prosecution.

GREEN BAY – TGSCOM Inc., a web-based firearms dealer headquartered in Green Bay, Wisconsin, recently helped the City of Daytona Beach Shores nearly double the prison term of a convicted cop shooter.

On November 1, 2005 Thomas Cutaia fired ten shots at Daytona Beach Shores police officer Michael Gavigan, wounding him. On July 19, 2007 Cutaia was found guilty of just aggravated battery for shooting Officer Gavigan and received a twenty-year prison sentence.

Not satisfied with this light punishment for a criminal who tried to kill a police officer, additional charges were filed against Cutaia for being a felon in possession of a firearm. Cutaia had been previously convicted of arson in Massachusetts.

In attempting to mount a defense, Cutaia altered a TGSCOM invoice and made false representations about how he acquired the gun he used to shot Officer Gavigan. Working with TGSCOM, Daytona Beach Shores law enforcement was able to prove Cutaia was not telling the truth. On August 10, 2007, thanks in part to TGSCOM, Cutaia was found guilty and given an additional 15 years behind bars.

“Thomas Cutaia deserves every day of the thirty-five years he’ll spend in prison,” said TGSCOM President Eric Thompson. “We were glad to cooperate with the Daytona Beach Shores law enforcement officials. People who use firearms to commit tragedies should pay the full price for their actions.”

In a letter to TGSCOM, Stephan Dembinsky, Director of Public Safety for Daytona Beach Shores wrote: “It is always a pleasure to work with companies willing to extend their services to law enforcement in our attempt to seek and serve justice. The information you were able to supply was integral in the positive outcome in our prosecution of this case.”

TGSCOM was in the news recently because one of the firearms used by Cho Seung-Hui in the Virginia Tech shootings was purchased on www.thegunsource.com, which is operated by TGSCOM. TGSCOM cooperated with law enforcement agencies investigating that tragic shooting.

“We are proud to provide law abiding Americans with firearms and hunting and shooting accessories,” said Thompson. “We will continue to do all we can to make sure criminals who use guns to commit crimes are punished to the fullest extent of the law.”

What a privilege to live in a free society where I may purchase firearms and ammunition via the internet! As a surviving combat vet, registered Democrat and political liberal, NRA member and armed citizen, I am grateful for the honor of having served my country, of protecting my family and fellow citizens, using my vote to protect our 2nd amendment right to keep and bear arms, using my vote to protect a woman's right to choose. Now, to place another order for 1000 steel core AK-47 rounds for target practice...

This stupid liberal shoots expert with the M4 and M9 and has put plenty of lead down range with my 23. It's divisive generalizations from people like Andrew that create unecessary obstacles to responsible gun ownership. Democrats are Americans too, and make up half the country more or less depending on who you ask. We could be pretty valuable in the fight to keep stupid laws (i.e. Assault Weapons Ban) off the books given the chance.

No one should be afraid of guns.... They should be afraid of people that figure ways around the system and give responsible gun owners a bad name! I've owned guns for 30 years and have a CWP. I have only had to pull out my gun 1 time... and it saved someone’s life. The people that go around the system can pull out their gun once and take many lives. It is up to responsible gun owner to be there when they do! The more people that are properly trained how to handle and use a gun safely, and get certified to carry concealed weapons the safer this Country will be.

We should ALL be supporting the “Students for Concealed Carry on Campus” at http://www.concealedcampus.org, by not supporting these types of causes we are lying down on our duty to support the second amendment. Shootings will happen, but statistics show that private citizens use guns in self-defense 800,000 to 2.5 million times a year, however, “in 80 to 90 percent of these cases no shots are fired- because the criminal flees!” With programs like SCCC and other, we will all be much safer in our daily lives.

when I read some of these comments, I get scared...so scared I'm going to buy a gun to protect myself! I say "kill 'em all-let GOD sort 'em out"!! well I didn't say that but, I wish I did. seriously, I think the gov't. should require EVERYBODY to carry a gun, then you'll see people respect each other!

in response to Rob, at the top of this page. He says, " Message From: Rob on 9/8/2007 9:23:07 PM Not to point out the obvious or anything, but don't you all realize this would never have happened if the gun hadn't been sold to him in first place?" Coming from one of the worst neighborhoods in the eastern US I can say this... If this guy hadn't bought the gun from thegunsource.com, he probably would've gotten it on the street somewhere and that 15 years of extra time wouldn't have been added. What Rob obviously doesn't realize is that it's easier to buy a gun on the street than it is to buy from a gun store. Congrats to TGSCOM for helping out law enforcement and fellow enthusiasts.
Message From: Jason on 9/9/2007 12:00:27 PM
Yes, Rob you are right, and if he hadn't been sold any matches he wouldn't have committed arson in Massachusetts. If I hadn't been sold any flatware I wouldn't be so goddamn fat. If Teddy Kennedy hadn't been sold that Oldsmobile, Ms. Kopechne would still be alive. OPEN YOUR EYES!!

Did I forget to tell you about the nagging wife after a stressful night? We need more people to come forward and help the justice system instead of being afraid. Thanks again.

This type of creep is the fuel that burns the desire to limit the 2nd ammendment. I Applaud TGSCOM for showing that they AND their customer's believe this guy is getting, he deserves everybit. It also shows that outlaws will continue to do what they do whether it's against the law or not. They managed to help make people to realize that Guns or Gun Shops do not condone this sort of thing in any way, in fact, If other gun owners are like me, this angers me just as much if not more than if I were against the right to bear arms, because this type of crime makes some people to judge us in the same manner. Thanks to TGSCOM AND it's Customer's for sending the message that not only do we abhor such action,we're willing to help however we can. John

You have helped preserve our (civillian) rights to keep and bear arms. All citizens should belive in a righteous system. That includes the Govt. and all their attempts to control the sale of guns to criminals. But the root of all sales is the sales people actually selling the guns. Thanks for doing the right thing in catching the deception that so many criminals usually can use to get by the system. Good Catch!!!

Great, I agree completely, except, that it should have been tripled, instead of only doubled & should have included the attourney that defended this scum-bag. I strongly feel that w/ the terrorist threats to our citizens, Not is certainly not the time to try to enact firearms restrictions on our people. I think we need to train more people in the safe use of firearms for defense of our country as well as personal defense. An Armed citizenry will always be a threat to the criminals, & that is as it should be. The Law Officers cannot be everywhere all the time. Thanks for allowing me to share my thoughts.

I am a lifetime gun owner and staunch Second Amendment supporter. I am also an ex-police officer. Nonetheless, I am against laws that provide for enhanced sentences for violence against a cop. A police officer is no better than an average citizen so he/she shouldn't be afforded additional protection. Nobody forced anybody to be a cop. Not all, but most like to swagger around, hassle motorists and hit on the women. For this, they are entitled to extra protection? I agree with Infowars about corrupt cops.

So I'm curious will you people at TGSCOM Inc. be so quick to assist in the prosecution of "Corrupt Law enforcement individuals" and make sure that they get the maximum penalty when they use their guns to commit tragedies? You pat yourself on the back of how you put this guy away for good..but when law enforcement commits criminal acts they just seem to get a slap on the wrist or DON'T nearly do as much time as the rest of us would. Think I'm kidding about this? This kind of stuff happens alot and more frequent than most of us would like to realize.
