DC Gun Ban
Overturned
In the Landmark Decision of DC vs
Heller
We WIN!!! With today’s historic ruling on the Second
Amendment from the Supreme Court, we now officially have the individual right to
keep and bear arms. This helps ensure our ability to protect ourselves
from the criminals in our society.
Pop the cork, fill your glass, and take a slow and well-deserved
drink of your bubbly.
OK…now it is time to get back to work. Although the court
recognized our individual rights, we still have lawsuits to file and rights to
secure. The ruling left in tact many of the gun laws that should be
blatantly unconstitutional, leaving the fight to keep on going. I heard
that the NRA is going to quickly be filing suit against Chicago and the many
communities around it. I would also suspect that many local, state, and
federal laws and statutes will be next. I will help support, in any way I
can, lawsuits against governments that take away our constitutional
rights. Much of the 1934 and 1968 federal laws should follow soon.
I would also encourage the Brady Campaign to Prevent Gun Violence
and Paul Helmke to now focus on their stated goal: to prevent gun
violence. Since banning and restricting guns is not (and never has been) a
viable solution, they should take their considerable resources and now focus on
the courts and the justice system that put the criminals back in our
neighborhoods. Stop wasting time on guns! However, if they still
wish to continue their losing fight, at least they should have the courage to
rename their organization and tell the truth, for once, regarding their
agenda.
Keep the pressure on. We are in the majority and they are in
the minority. The elitist viewpoints that have so predominately taken over
the media in years past are now the fringe. They are also
un-American.
Job well done Dick Heller. Job well done.
My promise to you: as each of these draconian laws fall, we
will offer SUBSTANTIAL savings and incentives to celebrate our victories.
DC area, Chicago area, California, and many others should follow soon.

McCain weighs in…
U.S. Senator John McCain today issued the following statement regarding
today’s United States Supreme Court ruling on District of Columbia v. Heller:
Today’s decision is a landmark victory for Second Amendment freedom in the
United States
. For this first time in the history of our Republic, the
U.S. Supreme Court affirmed that the Second Amendment right to keep and bear
arms was and is an individual right as intended by our Founding Fathers. I
applaud this decision as well as the overturning of the District of Columbia ’s
ban on handguns and limitations on the ability to use firearms for self-defense.
Unlike Senator Obama, who refused to join me in signing a bipartisan amicus
brief, I was pleased to express my support and call for the ruling issued today.
Today’s ruling in District of Columbia v. Heller makes clear that other
municipalities like Chicago that have banned handguns have infringed on the
constitutional rights of Americans. Unlike the elitist view that believes
Americans cling to guns out of bitterness, today’s ruling recognizes that gun
ownership is a fundamental right — sacred, just as the right to free speech and
assembly.
This ruling does not mark the end of our struggle against those who seek to
limit the rights of law-abiding citizens. We must always remain vigilant in
defense of our freedoms. But today, the Supreme Court ended forever the specious
argument that the Second Amendment did not confer an individual right to keep
and bear arms.
“The Second Amendment protects an
individual right to possess a firearm unconnected with service in a militia, and
to use that arm for traditional lawful purposes, such as self-defense within the
home.” |
