Howard Leight/Bilsom Leightning 30 L3 hearing protection earmuffs. Protection up to 30 decibels. Black.
The Leightning 30 earmuff strikes twice with the highest attenuation and superior comfort. Leightning earmuffs offer the highest level of hearing protection available in an earmuff. This high rating ensures superior protection at both high and low frequencies. The latest innovation in soft, slow recovery foam gently wraps around your ears so you don't even notice it's there. The Blisom Leightning L3's NRR (noise reduction rating) is 30 decibels when used correctly.
AIR FLOW CONTROL™ TECHNOLOGY
Bilsom’s patented Air Flow Control™ technology delivers optimal attenuation across all frequencies, without increasing earcup size or weight. A patented baseplate chamber and high-tech non-woven layer manage the flow of air inside the earmuff to control how sound reaches the ear. The result is better, more consistent overall attenuation for virtually all industrial noise environments. Air Flow Control is a standard feature on all Leightning Series earmuffs.
- Now with Air Flow Control technology
- Robust steel headband withstands demanding use, especially in tough environments
- Snap-in ear cushions make replacement quick and easy
- Padded foam headband delivers long-wearing comfort with minimal pressure on the head
- Telescopic height adjustment remains fixed during usage

Fits very comfortably and feels very lightweight. Blocks out sound of the gun but conversations pass through good.

I have found that these muffs work to reduce constant drone noise very efficiently for vacuums. grinders and weed eaters.
They have not been tested yet with percussion, i.e. gun noise suppression but I suspect they will be fine, especially if in-the-ear foam (23Db) plugs are also used.
Because of the firm fit around the ears, I note that if you wear eyeglasses with the muffs, then you may experience marked pressure point discomfort as the eyeglass ear-pieces (mine are the wire-type) are pressed hard enough by the muff fit to cause painful-discomfort after about 15~20 min.
For the reason stated above, I opted to purchase goggles at less expense (AoSafety Eyeglass Protectors #91111 - with shields for front and side impact protection.
* Meet ANSI Z87.1 and CSA Z94.1 industrial safety standards - About $4.00 at LOWS Home Center) and cut off (hacksaw) the goggle ear-pieces (thick plastic) and attach gum-rubber tubing to the goggles stems that then affix to the outside of the ear-muff cups (the metal slides that hold the muffs) so that (with eyeglasses off and) only muffs with goggles on, only the muffs press against the head, providing good sound block - this proves to be a comfortable and eye-safe combination.
The goggles are so hooked to the muffs as to be easily removable when not needed.
Some describe the muffs as ''heavy'' or ''bulky'', Hmm, totally subjective. I find that when doing other things, I do not notice them at all. Again the caveat, prescription eyeglasses or goggle ear-pieces are pressed firm enough to cause discomfort and pain with extended goggle wear.
Overall I would recommend this product as a good buy.
